Kaor, Paul!
I looked up "Faces of War" and I was interested by your discussion of how Anderson chose a different method than usual--assuming the persona of a HISTORIAN for his description of the people at Battle Sun.

Kaor, Paul!
Another thought I had was to recall how impressed I was, as a boy, by Appendix A of JRR Tolkien's THE LORD OF THE RINGS. It was a very convincing fictional "history," and read like it, complete with lists, chronologies, genealogies. I admire the artistry of Tolkien in making Appendix A seem so real, with fictional quotes, abridgings, summaries, etc.
Ad astra! Sean
