The orbekh of Urdahu calls its home planet "Ardazir." Urdahu independently achieved interplanetary travel. Fifteen standard years ago, the pack leaders of Urdahu, having somehow also acquired gravitics and FTL, began to use these new acquisitions:
to subjugate Ardazir;
to loot and enslave in a dozen other planetary systems;
to organize the conquered planets for further interstellar war;
then to attack the Terran Empire while assuring their followers that they have powerful alien allies.
Flandry also learns:
numbers of Ardazhirho ships and troops in the Cerulian System;
recognition signals;
military dispositions of the two million troops now on Vixen;
the layouts of forts, including the HQ den;
the Ardazirho population - a hundred million at home or on conquered planets;
information about industrial, military and naval resources.
More Ardazirho attacks would force the Empire to abandon Syrax to the Merseians.

Now that is interesting, an illustration showing us Lady Diana and Flandry as they arrived at the Crystal Moon, at the beginning of WE CLAIM THESE STARS.
And, even absent further attacks by the Ardazirho, it would plainly take a really major effort to drive out the Ardazirho from Vixen and its solar system. So much that the Empire would probably have to abandon any attempt to stop Merseia from seizing the Syrax stars.
