"Hunters of the Sky Cave," XII.
How do human beings and Ardazirho respond to captivity?
Good news encourages human beings to resist their captors whereas bad news demoralizes and disarms them.
Good news relaxes the Ardazhirho, making them more amenable to their captors, whereas bad news increases their defiance.
Now we understand, if we did not already, why "xenology," the study of alien intelligences, is essential to interstellar Intelligence work. It would be disastrous to treat Ardazirho prisoners as if they were human beings or vice versa.

Kaor, Paul!
And of course Flandry was careful to point out to Mind-hunter Svantozik the limitations in such textbook style generalizations as these.
Ad astra! Sean
