Olaf Magnusson:
"...was born on Kraken...m-m...forty-some Terran years ago. It's a hard, harsh planet for humans. They grow tough, or they die. An independent lot; their spacefolk trade outside the Empire, clear to Betelgeuse or Merseia. But they give us more more'n their share of military recruits.'"
-Poul Anderson, The Game Of Empire IN Anderson, Flandry's Legacy (Riverdale, NY, 2012), pp. 189-453 AT CHAPTER THREE, p. 246.
"...cold and heavy Kraken..."
-CHAPTER FOUR, p. 251.
Roan Tom:
"...walked with the rolling gait of a Krakener, whose planet is mostly ocean, and bore the intertwining tattoos of his adopted people on most of his hide."
-"A Tragedy of Errors," p. 465.
"It had been natural for an impoverished noble family to make alliance with an energetic young immigrant who had a goodly following and a spaceship." (pp. 466-467)
Dagny's Krakener dowry to Roan Tom was their home, Skerrygarth, towers above surfs and reefs - like a smaller Ys.
-copied from Gods And Stars.
For a planet that we never see directly, Kraken is an interesting place. There will be at least one more post about it.

Kaor, Paul!
And I think one of the characters in "The Sharing of Flesh" came from Kraken.
Ad astra! Sean
