Lost To Sight

A Stone In Heaven, IX.

(Can you see Sol in this image?)

Flying low through the Ramnuan night and utilizing optical amplification, Flandry sees:

frosty plains;
snowy hills;
two moons, Diris and Tiglaia;
Antares as a "...red spark..." (p. 129)

However:

"...the Milky Way was lost to sight." (ibid.)

This blog collects Anderson's descriptions of the Milky Way but, for once, the galaxy is mentioned even though it is not visible.

Notes
Ramnu is in Sector Antares.
The planet was discovered by Cynthians, hence the local astronomical nomenclature.
Flandry flies low to avoid detection.

The game is afoot but that does not prevent us from enjoying the view.

Kaor, Paul!

I needed a few seconds, but I found Sol in the lower left corner of the image. Very humbling, to see how small our Sun is compared to Betelgeuse or Antares!

Ad astra! Sean
