Poul Anderson's The Earth Book Of Stormgate collects twelve previously published narratives, adds a new introduction to each and also adds one new concluding passage. Thus. this comprehensive volume comprises in total twenty five prose items although the thirteen newer pieces are brief, varying in length from two pages to a single paragraph. Nevertheless, these additional passages significantly enhance the future history of which this collection is a part, for example by informing us of the subsequent activities of James Ching and Emil Dalmady. The latter "soared high," some of his children moved to Avalon with Falkayn and one of them wrote the account that we read of Dalmady's first adventure in van Rijn's employment. Ching was a friend of Falkayn's later crew member, Adzel, and wound uo on Llynathawr whereas Dalmady had come from a planet later visited by Flandry so there is no end to the future historical interconnections.

Kaor, Paul!
Considering how cold and frigid Altai was, I can see why Emil Dalmady eventually left that colony for good!
Ad astra! Sean
