"Though each was fluent in the other's principal language, and their vocal organs were not very different, it was easiest for Desai to speak Anglic and Uldwyr Eriau."
-The Day Of Their Return, 3, p. 83.
"Let's hope" and "God willing" cannot be said in Planha. See Anglic, Planha and Eriau.
"Are you still a bachelor?" had better not be asked in Eriau! See Planha, Anglic and Eriau.
Arinnian not only pronounces Avalonian Anglic differently from a Terran but also sounds as if he is translating from Planha. There will be human beings on Avalon and elsewhere who retain none of their Terrestrial heritage. Although brought up by Oronesian Ythrians from an early age, Tabitha/Hrill, unlike Arinnian, is a well-balanced human choth member. Individuals will continue to respond differently to social inputs.

Kaor, Paul!
Frankly, I like Tabitha a lot more than I do the neurotic "Arinnian"!
Ad astra! Sean
And while humans can assimilate fully into different cultures, a human could not really become a Ythrian -- which is "Arinnian's" problem.
Kaor, Mr. Stirling!
Exactly! And Tabitha avoided the problems "Arinnian" stumbled into because of his impossible longings.
Ad astra! Sean
