"The Big Rain," II.
"The sun was down on a ragged horizon, dimly visible as a huge blood-red disk..." (p. 171)
I thought that a common feature of all pre-probe versions of Venus was that the heavy clouds concealed all heavenly bodies - but not in this case.
In Poul Anderson's Technic History, Venus has been incompletely terraformed but we are not told what it was like before that. The Technic History has a gas giant Jupiter whereas Three Worlds To Conquer has a solid surface Jupiter.
Twentieth century sf reflects increasing knowledge of the Solar System.
I will probably publish posts quickly in order to beat the next problem with the computer.

Kaor, Paul!
I think the Jupiter of the Technic stories is not TOO far off from our current knowledge of that planet.
