Ensign Flandry: Some Minor Points

Dwyr's password, "Meshuggah," is Yiddish for "crazy" or "senseless."
-Ensign Flandry, CHAPTER THIRTEEN, p. 132.

Flandry's surprisingly frank assessment of the Terran Embassy to Merseia:

"This is no police or military center, wasn't geared to violence, only created violence for others to quell." (p. 135)

He also says:

"'That's for the statesmen, though, I'm told. I only work here.'" (p. 137)

We recognize the phrase, "I only work here," from earlier in this novel and from elsewhere. See here. Workers' control would abolish the distinction between workers and decision-makers.

When I have more time, we will take a longer look at Dwyr.

Kaor, Paul!

Ha! I remember where that line about "I only work here" came from!

I'm sorry, but I think your comment "Workers control would abolish the distinction between workers and decision makers" is, kindly, absurd. There will never be such a system because it can't work. You will still need people to organize things, to decide who does what or goes where. And that cannot be done by "committees of the whole."

Ad astra! Sean
