Ensign Flandry.
Dwyr is:
a Merseian brain;
a lower face, surgically rebuilt;
a part of a torso;
a left arm;
a right stump;
essential prostheses, which he can attach to:
a tiny gravsled;
a bipedal frame;
a vehicle;
a weapon;
a detector;
a machine tool;
etc.
Almost killed by a nuclear blast, then told that his cellular chemistry had become too deranged for regeneration, he became a cyborg spy for Merseia. Told by Abrams that he had been lied to about regeneration, he instead spies for Terra.

Kaor, Paul!
And Dwyr the Hook had every right to be infuriated when he finally found out how grossly he had been lied to by his own superiors! As Abrams said, the DNA pattern in any undamaged tissue he had left would have sufficed for cloning and regenerating his lost limbs and organs, to HEAL him.
Ideally, and RIGHTLY, the proper way to have handled this would be for his superiors to say: "Dwyr, if you request it, we will proceed at once to begin your regeneration. But, we would like to make a suggestion you are totally free to accept or reject. We are asking you to volunteer for four or five [Merseian] years as a uniquely valuable cyborg intelligence agent for his Supremacy. At the end of that time you will be healed unless you freely agree to continue as an agent." That way there would have been no betrayal of Dwyr, no reason for him to defect to the Empire in disgust. He would have been rightly praised and honored for his self sacrificing loyalty to his Roidhun and people.
Ad astra! Sean
