The People Of The Wind, I, p. 442.
Arinnian hovers above Gray and the Bay:
the Hesperian Sea is silvered by sunlight, purpled on the horizons, otherwise sapphire;
the low sun, Laura, is aureate;
the sky is darkening blue;
Ythrian-influenced as ever, he thinks of cirrus clouds as breastfeathers;
he hears, feels and smells the salt breeze.
A cargo ship comes from Brendan's Islands and another stands out to the Hesperian Sea. The rest of the scene is summarized here.
It is to be hoped that there are planets like this out there. So many exoplanets have been detected that the probability must have increased significantly.

Kaor, Paul!
I've wondered just now if "Brendan's Islands" might have been named after St. Brendan the Navigator?
And your mention of those exoplanets reminded me of how scientists are now trying to develop methods enabling them to discover SMALLER planets, worlds about the size of Earth. And we can hope some of those planets will have oxygen/nitrogen atmospheres!

Sean,
There is already a list of possibly habitable planets. See the Wiki article.
Paul.
Kaor, Paul!
Thanks! I get most of what I learned about such things by reading articles at the CENTAURI DREAMS website. But I do plan to check out the Wiki article as well.
