I suggested here that Poul Anderson's Time Patrol, which already interacts with Holmes, might recruit him for a case involving Wild.

Safe Custody by Dornford Yates, which I am currently reading, refers to Sheppard.

And I can imagine Professor Moriarty being recruited by the Exaltationists! Making it necessary for the Time Patrol recruit Holmes to stop Moriarty.
