Orion Shall Rise, CHAPTER SEVENTEEN.
I have read through and skipped past passages describing social structures among the Mong and the Northwesterners. They did not grab me this time but they are there for anyone to read who wants to. In various fictional works, Poul Anderson discusses forms of social organization in historical and prehistorical periods, in projected futures, on colonized planets and among alien species. I have summarized some of these discussions in previous posts. The main point in Orion Shall Rise is that, after a nuclear war, already existing organizations became the bases of new societies: regiments among the Mong; Lodges in the Northwest; an aerostat crew in Uropa.

Kaor, Paul!
Yes, after an overwhelming catastrophe like the War of Judgment and the collapse of former nations, I can see smaller local organizations like lodges, religious groups, or even clubs becoming the nuclei around which new societies might arise.
Ad astra! Sean
