And when Flandry finally met McCormac, I remember how he discussed different options the Pretender could have opted for after being rescued from his prison satellite. He could have gone to Terra and raised such a "zoosny" there that it would have been impossible to hush up Snelund's misgovernment of Sector Alpha Crucis. Or lead a raiding force to attack the governor and rescue Kathryn. Altho he would have been forced to flee the Empire in the latter alternative. Either would have been far better than starting a civil war!
