In 1988, Manse Everard and Wanda Tamberly of the Time Patrol eat clam chowder in Ernie's Neptune Fish Grotto on Irving Street. See here.
In 1959, Michael Stefanik and Janice Culquhoun go to:
"...a restaurant in a shabby district near the yacht harbor."
-Perish By The Sword, 4, p. 33.
Behind the counter, shelves are overloaded with:
ship models
conchs
stuffed fish
clamshells
steering gear
guns
Gibson girl calenders
beer steins
There are freshly caught shrimp to take home.
Stefanik orders Tuborg and two regular dinners with clam chowder and fried prawns.
We are indeed treated to time and place.

Kaor, Paul!
And by comic contrast, I still remember the "lively" dinner Steven and Virginia Matuchek had with the dwarf in OPERATION LUNA. The dwarf had no idea how to dine as moderns do!
