Sunburst

"Sargasso of Lost Starships."

"The sunburst banner of the Empire flapped above them..." (p. 408)

Despite its many discrepancies, sometimes this story fits right in with the rest of the Technic History:

a sky illumination forming a gigantic banner with the Sunburst of Empire in royal blue;

Kaor, Paul!

Very nice! Apologies for nitpicking, but I would have made the sunburst somewhat smaller and colored gold.

Sean,
But the sunburst above the Coral Palace is royal blue.

Yes, but it was "...a Sunburst alive in a field of royal blue." I think a golden sunburst to be more likely than a BLUE one.

Sean,
Can you give me the reference for the "...field of royal blue"?

Certainly, from Chapter 1 of ENSIGN FLANDRY, at the Coral Palace: "The sky illumination had now formed a gigantic banner overhead, the Sunburst alive in a field of royal blue..." Which I interpreted as meaning a golden sunburst in a FIELD of royal blue. I think one of the rules of sound vexillogy is that a well designed flag should have colors and designs clearly DISTINCT from each other.

But I hope you agree a golden sunburst in a field of royal blue does makes sense.

Correction: it's VEXILLOLOGY I should have used in some of my comments. Not "vexillogy."
