Characters who are introduced in the first Dominic Flandry novel and who reappear or are mentioned later in the Technic History (more than you might think):
Lord Advisor Petroff, mentioned later;
Lord Advisor Chardon, mentioned later;
Dominic Flandry;
Max Abrams, later seen in a reminiscence by Miriam;
Miriam Abrams, here seen by Max in a family picture;
Dragoika;
John Ridenour;
Tachwyr the Dark;
Persis d'Io, later mentioned in connection with her son by Flandry.
Important Planets:
Starkad, because Starkadians are evacuated to Imhotep;
Irumclaw, because Flandry is stationed there next.
The novel also introduces the Terran-Merseian conflict which endures throughout the Flandry series but, like everything else, does not go on forever.

Kaor, Paul!
We also see some of the Terran Emperors either in person or mentioned more than once. Josip was seen while still Crown Prince in ENSIGN FLANDRY and mentioned by name in THE REBEL WORLDS, A KNIGHT OF GHOSTS AND SHADOWS, and A STONE IN HEAVEN and THE GAME OF EMPIRE. Emperor Georgios was mentioned in these four books as well and implicitly mentioned in A CIRCUS OF HELLS. Emperor Hans was mentioned or alluded to in the revised version of "Warrior From Nowhere," and seen in A KNIGHT OF GHOSTS AND SHADOWS, A STONE IN HEAVEN, and THE GAME OF EMPIRE. We see single mentions of other Emperors like Isamu the Great, Manuel the Wise, Olaf, and Pedro II.
Ad astra! Sean
Sean,
I should have mentioned Josip as appearing in ENSIGN FLANDRY, then important in the background of THE REBEL WORLDS.
Paul.
Kaor, Paul!
I thought it an odd omission! (Smiles)
Ad astra! Sean
