The Second Culmination

The first of the two main sections of Poul Anderson's History of Technic Civilization culminates in The Earth Book Of Stormgate. The second section culminates in The Technic Civilization Saga, Volume VII, Flandry's Legacy which covers:

the latter days of Dominic Flandry's career when he is at last an Admiral;

the beginning of his daughter's career;

the aftermath of the Fall of the Terran Empire;

two later civilizations;

the beginning of a new era of unprecedented wealth when human civilizations have spread through several spiral arms of the galaxy far beyond the mere four hundred light-year sphere of the Terran Empire.

We want it to continue but it had to end some time.
