Uploads

Genesis, PART ONE.

At the end of IV, the first interstellar spaceship carries an upload of Christian Brannock.

At the end of V, Terra Central, wanting to understand humanity, offers to upload Laurinda. If she accepts, then, no longer unique, she will enrich the whole "'...for millions of years or more...'" (p. 95) and might be resurrected in emulation, a concept that will be explained in PART TWO.

Initially, Laurinda rejects the idea of becoming a robot although Terra Central instead describes uploading as becoming:

"'...one with me?
"'A kind of Nirvana...'" (ibid.)

We can guess that:

Laurinda will accept;

thus, she will remain on Earth as an aspect of the planetary presiding intelligence whereas Brannock's upload has left the Solar System;

both will reappear in later chapters;

they might also meet in some future period although this would require an interstellar journey by at least one of them.

Kaor, Paul!

Drat! "Emulation," not "simulation," as I incorrectly stated in another combox.

Ad astra! Sean
