Pilot Juan Yoshii, a Sol-Belter, thinks about the very old red dwarf star and its planetary system that have passed through intergalactic space since nearly the Beginning and asks:
"What is man, that thou art mindful of him -?" (p. 77)
Poul Anderson quoted this passage in:
The Boat Of A Million Years
Orbit Unlimited
- although not in The Peregrine, where it would also have been appropriate.
I have quoted Juan's Biblical reference before as well as Ulf Markham's use of the word, "Judas." See Two Biblical References.

Kaor, Paul!
Again, you remind us of how often Anderson quoted from or alluded to the Bible. I can't think of many other SF writers, including even those friendly to religious believers, who do that. Or at least nowhere as OFTEN. But Anderson also believed humans will take their faiths and philosophies into space and to other worlds.
Ad astra! Sean
