Genesis, PART ONE, V, 1.
"'...I'd rather we talked about what's happened to us, like old friends come back together at last.'
"And for the last time, she foreknew." (p. 44)
Every single thing that we do, we will one day do for the last time, even just walking in the front door of a house where we have lived for decades. There will be a last post on this blog. Either we know that it is the last time or we do not. In this case, Laurinda "foreknows." Often, we look back and realize that that was the last time.
Years ago, I left a school on a Friday afternoon, expecting to return to it the following week. However, because of an accident over the weekend, I was off work for several weeks. In my absence, circumstances changed and I was never in that school again.
I could go on about personal "last times" but we all have our own and it would take us further away from Laurinda Ashcroft - whose memories and identity will be preserved into an indefinite future. Sf combines experience with imagination and speculation.

Kaor, Paul!
Indeed, we all have "last times" for many things. Or no "first times" for others.
