(i) A possible temporary measure: a large screen against solar radiation held in place by gravity and electromagnetism.
(ii) Orbiting solar-powered engines generating currents to carry fresh hydrogen down to the solar core, thus reigniting nuclear fusion and prolonging the period before Sol becomes a red giant.
(iii) Engines reducing the solar mass by bleeding gas into space, thus also moving the planets outward.

And I'm sure Anderson based these suggestions on hard, solid research, consulting scientists and engineers on what might be at least theoretically possible if certain assumptions are met.
