Unfamiliar Plants

In Poul Anderson's Technic History, we become familiar with alien trees and flowers like:

hammerbranch
braidbark
livewell
etc

In Anderson's Genesis, PART TWO, II, the far future Earth has become equally alien with:

goldfruit
plume
vasi
hairleaf
fireflower
schorchwort
bloomgrain
paperleaf
richen
shipwood

See also Kalava's Period.

In some instances, colors or scents are described but I leave it to blog readers to find these by reading Genesis. We get a strong sense of Kalava's world before his adventure with the star gods begins.

Kaor, Paul!

Yes, after a billion years or more, we have to expect to be drastically from what we now know and see. And that "paperleaf" plant reminded me of the papyrus of Egypt. Was paperleaf also used for writing material in Kalava's time?

Sean,

And shipwood for making ships?

Paul.

Kaor, Paul!

Maybe! Analogous to the oak once used so much for making ships?
