Sit

"[Flandry] saluted and snapped to attention. 'At ease,' the Emperor grunted. 'Sit. Smoke if you want.'"
-Poul Anderson, A Knight Of Ghosts And Shadows IN Anderson, Sir Dominic Flandry: The Last Knight Of Terra (Riverdale, NY, 2012), pp. 339-606 AT III, p. 378.

"Weoch-Captain came to attention and presented himself. 'At ease,' the High Admiral said. ''You may sit, stand, or pace as you wish. I expect you will, from time to time, pace.'"
-Poul Anderson, "Inconstant Moon" IN Larry Niven, Ed., Man-Kzin Wars III (New York, 1990), pp. 167-310 AT Chapter I, p. 170.

Anderson's first Man-Kzin Wars story lacked a kzinti pov but his second, "Inconstant Moon," begins with one.

There is more to be said here but we are on our way out for the day. Laters.

Kaor, Paul!

And I remember when Crown Prince Josip was receiving guests at that very same Coral Palace in Chapter 1 of ENSIGN FLANDRY, his visitors would bow or curtsy.

And I think Anderson was very good at showing both the strengths and limitations of the Kzinti personality in "Inconstant Moon."

Ad astra! Sean
