Quantum Drive

"Inconstant Star," Chapter IX.

"...on the second day under quantum drive..." (p. 229)

So Poul Anderson does refer to the Known Space version of the hyperdrive as the "quantum drive." Whether this is valid is another matter.

In this chapter, the Saxtorphs, their crew and single paying passenger are at last en route to their mysterious destination which will have to wait till some time tomorrow. Rereading really slows down if we stop to look at everything along the way and also detour into other imaginative authors' works. In the last twenty four hours, we have had poems and a comic strip on the blog. However, everything here is inspired by Poul Anderson even when we detour and return.

Like Anderson and SM Stirling, Neil Gaiman quotes James Elroy Flecker. All is one.

Though it's -very early- in the Known Space hyperdrive period. Terminology might change -- for example, fighter aircraft were originally called "fighting scouts", up until the 1920's.

Kaor, Mr. Stirling!

And I've seen you using that term, "fighting scouts," in your BLACK CHAMBER books.

Ad astra! Sean
