(i) The Known Space future history was born when the period of Lucas Garner and Gil Hamilton was linked to the later period of Beowulf Shaeffer. The Technic History was born when the period of Nicholas van Rijn and David Falkayn was linked to the later period of Dominic Flandry.
(ii) Both future histories refer back to an ancient interstellar civilization: the Thrintun and the Chereionites.
(iii) Both future histories use the sf cliche of hyperspace. However, they present different versions of it and Anderson's version is original, in fact not a different kind of space.
(iv) Niven's kzinti are like Anderson's Merseians and Tigeries.
(iv) Both future histories culminate in a remoter space in a further future.

Kaor, Paul!
Needless to say, there are many and even VAST differences between the Technic and Known Space series.
Ad astra! Sean
