"Into Your Hands..."

(The reference is just Luke 23: 46, not 44-49. It parallels Psalm 31:5.)

Dorcas Saxtorph:

"...scribbled a cross in the air and murmured, 'Into Your hands -' for unlike her husband, she believed the universe was more than an accident." (p. 157)

Poul Anderson's characters accurately reflect the entire gamut of belief and unbelief and this one gives us yet another appropriate Biblical reference.
