Complicated Connections Between Episodes

(Some covers look Star Trek.)

"The Trouble Twisters."

Like Flandry later, Falkayn knows scientific fencing, useful on primitive planets. He also fights with savate and karate and, because this is relevant to a communication problem, refers to Leyden jars and Heinrich Hertz.

In David Falkayn: Star Trader, which is The Technic Civilization Saga, Volume II, I am rereading "The Trouble Twisters," which is the third story in the Falkayn collection, The Trouble Twisters, immediately after "Territory," which is the third story in the van Rijn collection, Trader To The Stars. Having thus become interested in the biographical aspect of The Trouble Twisters, I might backtrack to the two earlier Falkayn stories before proceeding to the next van Rijn story, "The Master Key," having reread the next Falkayn/trader team story, "Day of Burning," relatively recently.

In the concluding section XI of "The Trouble Twisters," Falkayn does on Ikrananka what van Rijn did on t'Kela in "Territory," makes a trade deal that satisfies everyone or, more accurately in this case, dissatisfies no group any more than any other. For example, human warriors who previously fought for the Emperor and who cannot return to Earth will now fight to defend the trade routes. But I must reread the section to recall all the details. In fact, see The Solution On Ikrananka.

Kaor, Paul!

I remember Leyden Jars from "The Trouble Twisters"! Ikranankan savants were experimenting with them in that story.

Ad astra! Sean
