Iern in an altitude suit, very like a spacesuit, stands on an observation platform of Skyholm, preparing to skydive to avoid capture by the Gaean usurpers. We are interested in Poul Anderson's description of the night sky as seen from the stratosphere, particularly since it includes yet another description of the Milky Way.
