Am I alone in wanting to analyze not only the contents but also the structures of series? I have argued, perhaps ad nauseam, that Poul Anderson's Technic History and Time Patrol series are fascinating in this respect. Or consider his Maurai future history:
three short stories which could be collected in one volume without the two Kith stories;
one long novel, set later;
the Maurai Federation as one of several milieus, both past and future, visited by time travelers in There Will Be Time.
Thus, these three volumes could be packaged together.
