The Shield Of Time, PART TWO, 209 B.C.
The four remaining Exaltationists are in 209 B.C. Raor and Sauvo are in Bactria. Draganizu and Buleni are in the nearby temple of Poseidon where they are guarded by Syrian soldiers and watched by Everard. Draganizu wears a stolen Time Patrol communicator in the form of an Athene medallion.
Everard kills Draganizu, lays out Buleni and says into the communicator, "'Unattached Everard. Come immediately. Combat.'" (p. 113) Patrol agents arrive on timecycles and stun the Syrians. Alarms in Raor's house in Bactra will have sounded at the arrival of the timecycles but it is already too late. Everard and his colleague, Ruszek, arrive in the house a minute earlier, blocking the route to the chamber with the Exaltationists' timecycles. Ruszek kills Sauvo and Everard arrests Raor. End of the Exaltationists and of a very smooth operation.

Kaor, Paul!
Next, Raor and Buleni will be tried by the Time Patrol's court and probably sentenced to life time banishment on the exile planet.
A well done police operation, despite some hairy moments.
Ad astra! Sean
The exile planet must be a very strange place... 8-).
Again, if I was the Exaltationists, I'd do something much earlier than Bactria. Bombing the Cretaceous with grass seeds and advanced insects comes to mind.
Kaor, Mr. Stirling!
I think you would have made an ALARMINGLY efficient Exaltationist! (Smiles)
As for the exile planet, I assume it was a terrestroid planet, reasonably comfortable for humans to live on. Convicts sentenced to exile there would be deposited there at widely spaced times. And to prevent problems arising from children being born there, the convicts would never see anyone who was not of their sex. Nor be allowed access to high technology or the books and records needed for starting up an industry.
The exile planet is not supposed to be FUN!
Ad astra! Sean
