For Love And Glory, XLVII.
See the previous post.
The commander of the Susaian warship establishes radio communication, commandeers Hulda, then orders her crew to land and explore. Thus, at last, after immense suspense, we are to read an account of a landing on the Foreunner-controlled planet - in Chapter IL (of LIV), which I will reread tomorrow. By glancing ahead, I learn that the intermediate chapter, XLVIII, recounts further preliminary inter-ship communications.
Concentration is necessary to read a new chapter in sufficient detail for blogging purposes. For example, most of p. 272, opening IL, discusses the technical details of landing "...on a planet without docking facilities." How does Hulda, descending, avoid melting the unprepared surface with her plasma jet? Either read the novel or stayed tuned to this blog.
From delusion, lead us to truth.
From darkness, lead us to light.
Good night.

Kaor, Paul!
Oddly, I'm reminded of "Outpost of Empire," where the largest Terran Navy ship capable of safely landing on a planet like Freehold was a light cruiser.
