I would be curious about not only WHAT the "collective consciousness" at Earth is like (and wary about such a thing being GOOD for humans), but also about what Earth is UP to. Does that "collective consciousness" secretly nurse ambitions most other humans might find a threat to them? I think Anderson would have examined such questions if he had written a sequel to FLAG.
