Rio de Janeiro Integrate

See:

San Francisco Integrate (scroll down)
Chicago Integrate (scroll down)

Now Eric Tamarin-Asmundsen, biological son of Nicholas van Rijn, is in Rio de Janeiro Integrate where, from his high hotel window, he sees and senses:

richly tinted skyscrapers;
Sugarloaf;
Corcovado;
burnished bay;
Niteroi bridge;
cars torrenting along streets and elevated roads;
aircars dancing above;
the unheard but sensed throb of the machine of the megalopolis.

Integrates are a major part of life on Earth in the Solar Commonwealth.

Kaor, Paul!

The impression I get from context is that places like Chicago Integrate, San Francisco Integrate, Rio de Janeiro Integrate, etc., began as the cities of those names which expanded to absorb the states and provinces they were once only a part of. So much of the west coast of the US became the San Francisco Integrate during the Solar Commonwealth (absorbing the old states of California, Oregon, and Washington).

Sean,
How can you tell how big SF Integrate is?

Kaor, Paul!

While we don't get any detailed explanation of how large an "integrate" was, we do see mention, in "The Master Key," of Chicago Integrate sprawling from horizon to horizon around the curve of the planet from the top of Old Nick's penthouse. That made me think Chicago came to cover most of the old state of Illinois (and possibly other states). Earth was becoming, de facto, one world wide city. The expansion of the cities were rendering the old state, provincial, and even national (after the Commonwealth arose) boundaries obsolete.
