In an Avalonian hospital:
"Ayan lay in one of the frames designed for his race. He was alone in his room. Its window stood open to a lawn and tall trees - Avalonian king's-crown, Ythrian windnest, Earthly oak - and a distant view of snowpeaks. Light spilled from heaven. The air sang. Ayan looked wistfully outward." (p. 321) (For full reference, see here.)
Despite what was explained in the previous post (see the above link), Ayan tells Jack:
"'...the time is over-past for our two kinds to mingle freely.'" (p. 322)
Jack, having seen the Ythrians as his enemies, now sees Ayan as his friend. The beautiful view through the hospital window exactly matches the new amity between members of two very different species.
