Genesis, PART TWO, I.
"'If awareness is to survive the mortality of the stars, it must make the universe over. That work of billions or trillions of years will begin with some small, experimental undertaking.'" (pp. 107-108)
Two ways to survive the death of the universe are summarized here but does either require the remaking of the universe? Maybe. It is clear that we approach the limits of current cosmological speculation and that sf writers are not able to carry such thinking much further. Gone are the days when it was thought to be feasible simply to survive into the next phase of an oscillating universe by time dilation in Tau Zero.
