a character in "The Saturn Game" was brought up as a Jerusalem Catholic;
Dominic Flandry meets a Wodenite Jerusalem Catholic priest in The Game of Empire;
descendants of rebels exiled by Flandry in The Rebel Worlds return in "Starfog";
Flandry was on a planet called Vixen in "Hunters of the Sky Cave";
in "Starfog," Daven Laure is from New Vixen.
Here is a visual detail that should be included in any screen adaptation. Liaw of the Tarns, Wyvan of the High Khruath, participates in a teleconference:
"Liaw sat silent for a space, during which the rest of them heard wind whistle behind him and saw a pair of his grandsons fly past. One bore the naked sword which went from house to house as a summons to war, the other a blast rifle."
-The People of the Wind, V, p. 494.
It would be valid to add a scene to explain the symbolism of the naked sword.

Hmmm... I disagree. A naked sword is sort of self-explanatory!
Kaor, Paul!
We see similar symbols in THE LORD OF THE RINGS. The ruling Steward of Gondor, Denethor II, sent messengers to King Theoden of Rohan bearing the Red arrow. To announce that war had come to Gondor and Denethor was invoking the alliance with Rohan and asking for help.
Ad astra! Sean
Sean,
I think they ride around holding up an arrow or something in THE SORROW OF ODIN THE GOTH.
Paul.
Paul: they do. It was, in fact, commonly used in early-Germanic times; it's mentioned in the sagas, IIRC.
Incidentally, on the Anglo-Scots Border burning a giant wooden cross on a hilltop was a "turn out" signal too. The KKK in the US took it over after 1865, but it had been known for centuries there.
It was a sign the "reivers were out, to break the Border".
Kaor, Paul and Mr. Stirling!
Paul: Stirling beat me to saying something similar re "war arrows"! (Smiles)
Mr. Stirling: Again, interesting! I had not known the KKK's burning cross had its origins in being a warped abuse of what was once a warning signal.
Ad astra! Sean
