Atoms In The Same Volume

Satan's World, XI.

Falkayn reflects on the dangers of hyperspatial travel near a star. They include:

"...a brush with a solid body, or a moderately dense gas, producing a nuclear explosion as atoms tried to occupy the same volume." (p. 439)

We have encountered this danger before both in Wells and in Anderson:

Objections

"All Possible Dimensions"

Time Travelling And Space Jumps

Temporal Collision

Good night.

Kaor, Paul!

I wonder, if there's ever a FTL (or other than light?) drive, whether such risk as hypothesized here, will turn out to be real? Anderson's suggestions seems very plausible.

Ad astra! Sean
