More Circular causality -
Speaking of the vihara in Bactra, Chandrakumar tells Holbrook/Everard:
"'An establishment like this is a sort of verbal bulletin board, you know, and not only for Buddhists.'"
-The Shield Of Time, PART TWO, 209 B. C., p. 56.
- whereupon Everard reflects:
"Right. That's why the Patrol quietly helped found it, half a century ago. In medieval Europe we do the same for certain monasteries." (ibid.)
So how much of its own past does the Time Patrol create? It begins to sound as if it meddles in the past as much the Wardens and Rangers do in their timeline.

Kaor, Paul!
And I would have liked to have known more about those monasteries founded by the Time Patrol! I suspect they were probably Benedictine or Cistercian houses because a wholly contemplative order like the Trappists would not seem to make good candidates as "sounding boards."
And how many of the monks in those monasteries were Patrol Agents? I suspect the Patrol would arrange matters to make sure only its agents were elected to be abbots and priors.
Ad astra! Sean
