A Temple

The Shield Of Time, PART TWO, 209 B.C.

The shrine has been upgraded to a temple with a local caretaker:

whitewashed, windowless building;
red tile roof;
steps;
portico;
stone pillars.

Within:

coolness;
dimness;
the sacred spring filling a hole;
a drain pipe;
an ancient altar;
the divine image on the rear wall;
offerings (clay models) on the floor;
a cup and a jug for the water.

The caretaker leaves Androcles/Everard alone with the god. The temple is sanctuary. It is possible to drink, pray and plan. An event of great temporal significance will shortly occur outside the building but within the temenos.

Kaor, Paul!

And the shrine at Lourdes also features a spring, by means of which God and the BVM sometimes grants miraculous cures to the sick or dying.

Ad astra! Sean
