This chapter is extremely dense and rich in historical background information. Just read it and google all the place names. For once, I am not going to google and link from here, especially not at this time of night.
The attached image shows the interesting geography of the Peloponnesus - and maybe also the place name from which the ancestors of the Founder of the Terran Empire (in another timeline) derived their surname?

Ah! You mean Manuel Argos, some of whose ancestors were Greeks. Memories of the Founder of the Empire broods in the background of the Flandry stories, as we see in WE CLAIM THESE STARS, A KNIGHT OF GHOSTS AND SHADOWS, and THE GAME OF EMPIRE.
