A Sea-Dwellers' Tavern

Virgin Planet, CHAPTER XVI.

Yet another inn:

From the harbor, down a narrow street;
"...a smoky kennel..." (p. 120);
a painted gable anchor;
sooty rafters;
benches and tables;
casks lining a wall;
hung scrimshaw;
stuffed fish;
a whole sealbird roasting in the fireplace;
a cask and goblets of brandy.

We recall many inns in many worlds and times in Poul Anderson's works.

Kaor, Paul!

I had to smile a little when thinking of how many inns can be found in the works of Anderson!

I also thought of the similar taverns to be found as well in Stirling's stories.

Ad astra! Sean
