Guardians Of Time And The Pact

"'In a reality forever liable to chaos, the Patrol is the stabilizing element, holding time to a single course.'"
-Poul Anderson, The Shield Of Time (New York, 1991), 1990 A. D., p. 435.

"We guard the great Pact...the unspoken Pact between the living, the dead, and the unborn, that to the best of our poor mortal abilities they shall all be kept one in the oneness of time."
-"The Pirate," p. 165.

The Time Patrol guards a single course of time and the Stellar Union Coordination Service guards the oneness of time. Although the Union does not last, the Nomads carry knowledge through the Third Dark Ages.

"The same fight was being waged, here the Nazis and there the Middle World; but in both places, Chaos against Law, something old and wild and blind at war with man and the works of man."
-Poul Anderson, Three Hearts And Three Lions (London, 1977), NOTE, pp. 154-156 AT p. 155.

"Whatever manifold form it takes, the war of Law against Chaos goes on in them all."
-Poul Anderson, Operation Chaos (New York, 1995), p. 2.

- all the parallel worlds.

Kaor, Paul!

I agree with the common principle enunciated in the texts you quoted: the war of Law against Chaos. Albeit, unsurprisingly, I don't believe a Time Patrol exists!
