Sea Food

Virgin Planet, CHAPTER XVI.

"The sea held abundant food if you knew how to get it." (p. 117)

That is what Andrea said to me, looking out his window at Morecambe Bay. We were discussing survival after a sea level rise. He added that the problem would be returning to his flat/apartment without being mugged. And that is the basis of a Poul Anderson story: survival and human interactions after an environmental change - except that we were not discussing it as fiction.

Kaor, Paul!

No, not everybody would need to be fishermen. Rather, there would be all kinds of people and businesses making and providing goods and services, from which would be obtained the profits and salaries needed for buying fish. And that would include the taxes, indirect or direct, needed for supporting a police force for keeping crime in check.

Ad astra! Sean
