Moriarty

Is it fair to comment that Poul Anderson fans should also be Sherlock Holmes fans?  We need hardly set out the reasons yet again but the main reason is "Time Patrol." It is in this spirit that I recommend John Gardner's Moriarty Trilogy:

The Return Of Moriarty (1974)
The Revenge Of Moriarty (1975)
Moriarty (2009)

(Volume III published posthumously because of a dispute with the publisher.)

Gardner depicts London in the 1890s and takes us inside the heads of (his version of) Moriarty and other characters. This is the London where Time Patrol milieu HQ for the Western world, 1850-2000, is located although, of course, John Gardner does not mention that. But Anderson/Holmes/Moriarty fans can continue to contemplate the links between the two series.
