A Theoretical Framework II

If, as I argue, the Danellians exist safely in Timeline 1, then why are they concerned about the possibility of subsequent timelines? ("Subsequent" in the second temporal dimension.) Why do they found the Time Patrol? I think that these questions can be answered. The Danellians, like other time travellers, want to be free to travel into the far past and then to return to their present. Anyone who travels into the past runs the risk of returning to an alternative present or, to put it another way, of arriving in Timeline 2. They want to prevent that from happening. If they did not time travel, then they would not have this particular problem. They wind up in a later timeline anyway because some temporal changes happen and the Patrol counteracts them although nothing can restore the original, completely unaltered, Timeline 1.
