The radiophone can communicate only across space, not time, but the milieu base contacts 1850-2000 milieu HQ in London, 1890-1910. Someone in that HQ contacts an agent in 1990 called Nick who phones Everard in San Francisco.
Hugh Marlow's crucifix is another Chekov's gun.
The headings in "Death and the Knight" are the most comprehensive yet, identifying place, day of the week, day of the month and year. Unfortunately, 8 March 1990 is that last date of record in Manse Everard's career.
