Nords And Kirkasanters

"Starfog."

The dominant group on Aeneas are called "nords"(scroll down) but their remote descendants on Kirkasant have "...dark coppery reddish..." (p. 724) skin because they have lived for millennia in a completely different and highly radioactive environment. There are also internal biological differences and the reason for their ancestors' ancient flight nearly a quarter of the way around the galaxy is long forgotten:

"(A commentary on the importance of any such reasons.)" (p. 728)

The narrative of nords evolving into Kirkasanters is a commentary on historical change and an important part of the background of this long future history series.

Kaor, Paul!

While Aeneas was austere and harsh in some ways, it was vastly more salubrious for humans than Kirkasant! So, I'm not in the surprised that after nearly 4000 years there, the descendants of the Aenean exiles who settled there had been changed by the harsh environment of their planet.

Having lost his bid for the throne, McCormac had to either stay in the Empire and take his chances with the justice and mercy of the Imperium or flee into exile with those followers still willing to accept his leadership. So, for them, their motives for leaving the Empire were strong enough!

Ad astra! Sean
