Dunham's Moment Of Realization

"Symmetry."

To grasp and turn the door knob, it is necessary to insert an arm into a transparent cylinder enclosing the knob. Each duplicate Dunham tries to insert his arm at the same time. The box in which they are enclosed grows hot.

"This is the way the world ends, not in chaos but in symmetry, frozen yet blazing hot.
"Hot!
"The double whoop rang off the walls." (p. 193)

Each pulls and drops a hair.

"The one whose hair lands first will open the door." (ibid.)

Problem solved. But there is no mention of matter duplication technology in the remaining installment of the Psychotechnic History.

Kaor, Paul!

I've been puzzled about your choice of illustration. I've examined the list of contents page for Aug/Sep 1953 issue of FANTASTIC and the Anderson story it includes, "The Disintegrating Sky" is not one of the Psychotechnic tales. A story I first happened to read in the collection STRANGERS FROM EARTH.

Sean,

I used that illustration to see if anyone would notice that the Anderson story was not a Psychotechnic one.

Paul.
