Broomstick

Operation Chaos, III.

I think that James Blish's black magician, Theron Ware, tells us that, in flight, the broom should point upwards but maybe I will check that later.

It would be possible but might get tedious to list every single example of practical magic in Poul Anderson's Operation Chaos. Virginia's broomstick, which comes when whistled, has:

foam-rubber seats;
shock absobers;
back rests;
stirrups;
a weather-proofing spell.

So it is not really a broomstick any more after it has had all that added to it?

Kaor, Paul!

I would HOPE conveniences like these would be added to "real" flying broomsticks. Otherwise they would be very uncomfortable to ride! (Smiles)
